Milena Dragivecic Šešic is Cultural policy amd management professor, researcher, author, consultant and editor. She is an international lecturer on cultural policy and management.
Former President of University of Arts, Belgrade, now Head of UNESCO Chair in Interculturalism, Art Management and Mediation, professor of Cultural Policy & Cultural Management, Cultural studies, Media studies. Commandeur dans l`Ordre des Palmes Academiques, 2002. Member of National Council for Science and Technology (2006-2010). President of the Cultural Policy Research Award (European Cultural Foundation, Amsterdam). Member of the Board of the European Diploma in Cultural Project Management (Foundation Marcel Hicter, Bruxelles), of Art & Culture Subboard of OSI (Soros network). Former ENCATC and ELIA Board Member. IUC Dubrovnik Board member (since 2008). Pro Helvetia Regional Board member (since 2008). Advisor to the Minister of Culture Republic of Serbia (2007).
She was a Lecturer in a various programs and universities: European Diploma in Cultural Project Management, Brussels; Moscow School of Social and Economical Sciences; CEU Budapest; I.E.P. Grenoble; University Lyon II; Iagelonian University Krakow, Jyvaskula university, Finland; Academy of Drama Arts, Cetinje; University of Buffalo, USA, Columbia University New York, University for culture, Riga; Music Academy Tallin; University of Culture Vilnius, ECUME, Dijon, University of Skopje, etc. Also, she was an external examiner for the Master Programme "Art & Media Management in a European Context", Utrecht School of the Arts & Open University London.
Milena published 15 books and more then 100 essays. Among them: Art management in turbulent times: adaptable quality management (with S. Dragojevic); Culture: management, animation, marketing (with B. Stojkovic), Intercultural mediation in the Balkans (with S. Dragojevic); Neofolk culture - stars and their audiences; Art and alternative; Urban spectacle; Horizons of reading, etc.
Her books were translated in 17 languages: English, German, Russian, French, Lithuanian, Hungarian, Polish, Macedonian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Albanian, Turkish, Mongolian, Georgian, Czech, Arabic & Chinese. Published also in Croatian & Bosnian.
She is an expert in cultural policy and management and has worked for European Cultural Foundation, Council of Europe, UNESCO, Foundation Marcel Hicter, Pro Helvetia, British Council etc.
Milena realized and developed more then 50 projects in cultural policy and management – policy trainings, strategic management & capacity building trainings etc, in SEE, but also Belgium, France, Finland, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania etc..
Milena is Civil society activist and participated in numerous public art projects and radical cultural projects and programs in the Balkans. In the present moment member of RUK - 7th February group, fighting for freedom of expression (freedom blocked by street mob nationalism).
She is an European networker, active within ELIA, ENCATC, IETM, ORACLE, BAN, Balkan Express, Mediterranean networks etc.
Milena is an activist in promoting links in-between Central Asia, Caucasus, Southeast Europe, Turkey and Arabic world (around the Europe links).
