Born in Kaunas, Lithuania, 1978. Graduated from the specialized fine arts school (Kaunas Secondary Art School) in 1995 and received further education both in Lithuania and abroad.
Most recently Egle Rindzeviciute has been awarded Browaldh Scholarship by Jan Wallander and Tom Hedelius Foundation to conduct three-year postdoctoral research as part of Organizing in Action Nets research programme at Gothenburg Research Institute (GRI). Her research interests are the sociology of governance and the relationship between governance and science and technology. The current project "The political life of quantitative methods and electronic technologies" focuses on the historical development of governance through calculation and analyzes the case of the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Laxenburg, Austria. IIASA was a collaborative effort of the Soviet Union, the United States, Germany, Japan, France and Sweden, among many other countries in their search for a better governance on the global level.
Besides Egle is affiliated as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department for Studies of Social Change and Culture, Linkoping University, Sweden. Part of an international project "National History-Nordic Culture. Negotiating Identity in the Museum", lead by Peter Aronsson, her individual research project deals with the history of national museums in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, particularly their role in state-building by producing and mediating both scientific knowledge and collective memory.
Previously, Egle enjoyed working in several exciting research and teaching environments, such as the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) (Oslo 2002), the Baltic Sea School in Humboldt University (Berlin 2003) and the Centre for Research on Socio-Cultural Change (CRESC) in the Open University (Milton Keynes 2004/2005), the Graduate School for Baltic and East European Studies at Södertörn University (2001-2008), the Communications Studies and the Studies for Culture and Social Change departments, Linköping University (2003-2008) and De Montfort University (2008/2009).
Her PhD dissertation explores the interactions between the domains of politics, culture and science - an essential context in which modern cultural policy is made. The book focusses on the case of Lithuania - a Baltic country that experienced radical changes of political regimes during the 20th century.
In addition to scholarly work, she is interested in curating (public and contemporary art), international project coordination and consulting (Nordic cultural policies, Eastern European cultural policies in transition).
She is currently a member of International Art Critics Association (AICA), the Lithuanian section and freelance contributor to major Lithuanian cultural magazines and newspapers.
