Helga studied of painting with Oskar Kokoschka (her grand uncle). As a young painter she already formed an art club and in 1973 a socio-political network called "Mut zur Demokratie" (Courage for Democracy).
She has worked as an editor and attended seminars on sociology, psychology. From 1978 – 1980 she was a gallery assistant followed by a long career in Esso Austria (1980 – 1998) covering public relations, marketing research, reporting, marketing, advertising, sales and promotion.
She has written for many international artmagazines including : du, Kunstforum international, Artefactum, Flash Art.
From 1999 she began intense networking with scientists, artists and NGOs in terms of “social sculpture” . Thus began the formation of the project Bridget for Peace with 54 public panel discussions on subjects like “Conflict and Culture”, “Persecuted Writers – writers in Exile”, “New Viennese Polyglot Culture”, “Learning Democracy”, “Globalization”, “Citizen – Media – Public”, “Integration of Immigrants”, “Kosovo”, “Structures of Democracy” etc.
In the year 2000 she helped the formation of ATTAC Austria, at the same time was curator and moderator in various settings (Mediencamp, Monochrom, etc.) and organiser of Open Space-conferences as well as, participating in various international conferences.
Currently the founder and co-ordinator of the Emergence of Projects (eop), a transdisciplinary network of artists and scientists. The network has been designed to test the transformation from hierarchical structures to those based on partnership between diverse participants and to establish a self-perpetuating model which puts in place impulses for innovation and sustainable social development. eop, a creative brain trust of high diversity, differs from similar groups by its character as an open network and its bottom-up-dynamics. It regards itself as an emancipative work in progress in which the participants act as observers and constantly reflect the development and structuring of the network. It is proposed as a model for bridging the gap between institutions, cultural- and scientific policy and the public.
Main projects of Helga's network Emergence of Projects (eop) are currently "ViennArt", "ViennAvant", "eopictureNight10+5" and "Symbolic Capital in Internet".
