Jerril Rechter is Executive Director of Leadership Victoria. Her experience spans executive level leadership in the arts and non-profit sectors in Australia, policy analysis and formulation (in the areas of the arts, education and health promotion), and strategic planning and leadership.

 

Biography
In 1992 Jerril founded the Tasmanian arts company Stompin Youth Dance Co., where Ishe continues as a Board Member. She has received a Tasmania Day Award, Winston Churchill Fellowship, Australia Council Dance Board Fellowship, Centenary Medal for service in the Tasmania Together process as a member of the Community Leaders Group, Future Summit Leadership Award and a 2006 Fellowship from the Harvard Club of Australia to attend a leadership course on social enterprise at Harvard University.

 

Prior to commencing as Leadership Victoria’s Executive Director she was the CEO/Artistic Director of Footscray Community Arts Centre from 2004 to 2008. During her time Jerril led the organisation through a period of unprecedented change including the introduction of a curatorial approach to artistic programming and the successful development of a capital works project. She worked as the Artistic Associate at Melbourne International Arts Festival (MIAF) in 2002 and 2003 and her work with MIAF included Spiegeltent programming and developing large-scale events such as Dancing In The Streets (an award-winning public dance project held at Federation Square). During this time, Jerril also completed her Masters of Business Leadership at RMIT University (2002) and the Williamson Community Leadership Program via Leadership Victoria (2003).

 

Jerril has contributed to numerous local, state and federal funding polices as an industry advisor. Her previous Board/Panel appointments include: Deputy Chair, Australia Council Dance Board; Chair, Theatre Panel and Advisory Board Member for Arts Tasmania; Chair, Community Cultural Development Advisory Panel for the City of Melbourne; and member, Annual Presentation program assessment panel for Arts Victoria. Jerril is currently a member of the VicUrban Art Panel, Asialink Performing Arts & Arts Management Advisory Committee and Office for the Community Sector – Not for Profit Sector Reference Group. She also holds a ministerial appointment as a member of the VicHealth Board of Governance.
